Supporters Demand Detainment of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the actress are calling for that a individual who jumped a barricade and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip shows the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was set to appear on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
History of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Well-being
Many supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted event staff at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while some called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In footage circulating online, Grande looked surprised when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had queued for as long as eight hours before it began.
The movie, to be released on 21 November, is the follow-up of a dual adaptation of the popular Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected relationship between two very different sorceresses.
The show itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
