19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
