Major Russian Attacks Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water supplies, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has increased assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing protection systems and applying penalties," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and several dozen missiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor was killed and several individuals were wounded.

The assaults follow evenings of air raids in the area, parts of which are occupied by invading troops.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with attacks already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were preparing for additional strikes.
