Football Analyst Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game victorious run was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, however will the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

For the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be fairly tight, though. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was still that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season started, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to select Bees forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

Their display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the visitors here, because they are clearly able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely eager for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
