The British tennis star earned the most important success of his professional journey by rebounding from a lost first set to defeat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of the Paris Masters.

While he had previously defeated Alcaraz on two separate matches, this victory represents Norrie's first ever success over a reigning world No 1.

"Enormous. So big for me," stated Norrie, who is now the fifth UK male player in history to overcome a world No 1. "Returning from a physical setback last year, I lost in the initial match of qualifying rounds here. I just aimed to embrace my tennis in the second half of the year. To secure a win like this, it's the most significant success of my tennis journey, my initial victory over the top player and probably the strongest athlete in the world right now."

The British player, ranked 31st in the world, also ended Alcaraz's supreme sequence of nine finals in a row and 17 straight premier event victories, which marked the finest stretch of results in the Spaniard's developing career.
